Yeah, jus another Hallmark holiday!mecka wrote:mmm maybe not subscribe to another day glorified by greeting card companies?
i dunno, but do u really need to use one single day as an excuse to do something special with/for your significant other?
edit: forgive me for my cynicism
If you wanna tell someone their special, tell whenever you want to, not when ur told to!!!

anyway, if anyone has been to a very nice romantic getaway, like a B&B, please recomend, thanks
hrmmm weekend away... try somewhere on the mornington peninsula... theres heaps of wineries, nice b&b's, and beaches! plus its only about 1.5 hours drive... flinders/shoreham/redhill/merricks are nice remote-ish places there
The rubber plant was surprised. If the rubber plant could have spoken, it wouldn't have said anything. That's how surprised the rubber plant was.
Thanks, yeah I was told down that way was nice, but there's too many too pick from, and you can't tell alot from some of the dodgy photos they have on the web...cha_chaos wrote:hrmmm weekend away... try somewhere on the mornington peninsula... theres heaps of wineries, nice b&b's, and beaches! plus its only about 1.5 hours drive... flinders/shoreham/redhill/merricks are nice remote-ish places there
this site always has helpful tips on heaps of topics, very helpful indeed, big ups.
hrm... well i live there there are some b&b's around my place and heaps of wineries (some that ive worked at or my sisters/mum has) im pretty sure the b&b's in shoreham i know are quite nice... very close to an un-busy beach and usually have a few of the sea, otherwise in flinders and red hill, they are close to good shops and only a short drive from the beach, so where ever u go, it should still be nice ^_^ (just to top up on more information)

it's down in, well, ashcombe, in the mornington peninsula. got two hedge mazes, a rose maze, and lovely gardens and grounds. 'ftw' stands for 'for the win' -- i.e., is very good.

Yeah I agree. The real spazz stood up.
Lame lame lame, IMO. I dont particularly like the idea of subscribing to something hallmark like, in order to keep up with the Joneses in some bizarre competitive I'm more romantic than the next guy thing.
Screams a little bit of insecurity really.

buy them a six pack and rent a new DVD ... it's pretty decadent, i know, but will say 'i love you' more than a million breakfasts in bed.

Live fast - yeah live too bloody fast sometimes; die young ... Die Young? No ... die old.
yeah ashcombe is nice if you like walking around gardens... the mazes are easy and there's only 3 of them, but its pretty beautiful... i went there the other day and took a bunch of friends from the city, they seemed to enjoy it its about $14 entry (make sure u take a bit of munchy foods or something coz the diner's kinda useless)Username wrote:Where's that? maze sounds fun, and what does "ftw" stand for???fooishbar wrote:picnic at ashcombe maze ftw

It's getting difficult. I had a secretary to help keep my schedule, but she.. erm... quit, due to something I may or may not have done. The hearing for that particular case is in March (I think).mecka wrote:How do u ever keep up with the lawsuits, I'll never know.Hardy wrote:Genital Warts. My sister go tmarried in a winery down there and we all stayed for 4-5 days in various b&b's..... there is a really cute one and close to wineries called Janes Hideaway - I am pretty sure that is it, we stayed there the nights leading up to wedding - open fires, big large old school baths...etc etc... really really nice place...

I don't know if it's open in the evening, but you could maybe hire a small row boat from the boathouse at Studley Park. Do the wine/cheese/buscuits thing on the river?
I will be spending Valentines Day with a bunch of camera nerds at the photography course I'm doing. Yay.

You lose either way, you can stick to your principles and screw valentines cos its just another cynical marketing ploy to get people to shell out ridiculous dollar to try and cover for their inadequacy in their relationships and otherwise lack of romance.... but then your significant other gets the hump (or not) because you are choosing to be a righteous mo'fo over just biting the bullet and doing something small but sentimental like going for a bike ride by the beach in st kilda and a baked potato at spud bar.
It sucks but i rather be a sell out getting laid than a true anti-capitalism warrior sticking one up the man.

actually valentines day has been around for centuries and is traditionally a european festival where couples would give each other chocolates in the dead of winter as a romantic jeasture in honour of st valentine. it was intented to 'warn the cockles of the heart'.
yes hallmark may have cashed in on it as with mothers day, fathers day and christmas, but it does have it's historical base.

Its a bit excessive, but if you're looking for a nice romantic b&b, this is by far the nicest place I have ever stayed. Amazing views and really close to the beach.
It is also really near Mornington, Dromana and Mount Martha. Good wineries and close to the Mornington Peninsula Hot Springs, which rock.
I like Valentines day. You can all sod off with your hallmark blah blah.
If you've got a problem with Hallmark, then make your own card.

Monreale Estate in the Dandenongs near Sassafrass is the best.Username wrote:aaaaaaaannnnnnnd I doparanoid edge wrote:Yeah, jus another Hallmark holiday!mecka wrote:mmm maybe not subscribe to another day glorified by greeting card companies?

Get the Watergarden cottage.
Best thing ever! (Not cheap though)
Don't hate me for house

The BESTEST EVER b&b. Very expensive, but we had 2 nights of lusciousness, including outdoor spa, four poster bed, breakfast in the fridge for you to cook up in the morning, fabulous walking trails, winery's...heaps of stuff.
They've got little 'accessories' to help elevate the mood. For example, in the wardrobe there's an old fashioned 1930's hat and suitcase for the guy and a lovely masquerade mask and silk robes for the girlies with some jewellery and perfume and stuff. ACE FUN!!!
Costs upward of $450 for 2 nights but it's well worth it.

Only the meek get pinched...the bold survive
B&Bs, romantic dinners...
I dunno
It sounds so lovely in the abstract, but in reality things like this always end up kinda giving me the heebie jeebies.
What is wrong with me?
