Friday 13th Part 2 @ The Croft Institute featuring ShockOne
Friday 13th Part 2 @ The Croft Institute featuring ShockOne
The Croft Institute is proud to have ShockOne (Viper Recordings) playing at Friday The 13th : Part 2.
Coming from a traditionally trained musical background ShockOne brings a unique sound to the Drum and Bass (DnB) scene and genre. Discovering the sound through artists like Bad Company, Konflict and Ed Rush & Optical, it wasn't long before Karl Thomas and Jay Burns were experimenting with electronic music. Coming at a time when playing in a metal band with the now the lead members of World Acclaimed Electronic / Drum n Bass Super Group Pendulum, recently signed to Majors - Warner Music, Worldwide. It wasn’t until ShockOne's tune 'Silverscreen' was played at a Pendulum return show in 2005 that things started to really happen. It wasn't long before many in the DnB scene took notice, including DJ Friction who picked it up for his own imprint Shogun Audio based out of the UK. 'Silvescreen' and 'Dropping Science' was ShockOne’s debut 12" viynl release, making the world take instant notice! Having gained support from the DnB Elite, including the World #1 Drum n Bass DJ and Global DnB Ambassador - Andy C, Friction and Hype to name a few. Followed by this release was 'It's On' which featured the musical side of the Duo utilizing live guitars resulting in an energetic party anthem that proved ShockOne were more than big synthesized basslines and amen break beats.
Some ShockOne's latest and arguably most successful offerings are, ' Let Me Go ' out on New York based label Incite recordings, then the massive ' Riddler ' on World Number # 1 D'n'B DJ - Andy C's sister label to RAM Recording; Frequency Recordings. These were closely followed up by his debut release on UK's Viper Recording - ' Don't You Know ' and ' Way You Move ' on the ' Head Room ' EP, as well as the recent Chart Topping 'THE SUN' with Perth local, Phetsta on Technique recordings.
ShockOne has proven to be a force to be reckoned with, not only in the studio, but also on stage, always retaining a strong musical element in sets while still keeping the energy at maximum level and the dance floor heaving at the seams.
2009 is set to be a colossal year for ShockOne with his forthcoming EP on Viper recordings in February as well as a full-length album in the works.
