Records & Aeroplanes
So I am moving o/s pretty soon ....and I plan on bringing some of my fav records with me.
what's the best way to travel with vinyl ?
I have a UDG bag (as below) which i was planning on stuffing and taking as on-board luggage .. or would it weigh too much ?

Doesn't look like you can take that on Steve-o:
Hand luggage will now be restricted to a few items, including wallets, spectacles and prescription medication, which must be carried in a transparent bag.
Linkage
Perhaps you could hire a fat suit, hollow it out, fit your records in and go on as a person of more than average weight.
Some people complain about travelling DJs playing CDs and not vinyl, but what can they do given such restrictions? There's no way I'd let my preciouses into the care of luggage handlers. Plus, I don't (and won't) travel.

that is a very old article and no longer relevant! that was only imposed for a short period of time.johnnynostars wrote:Doesn't look like you can take that on Steve-o:

varies slightly from airline to airline so depends who you're going with... qantas is 7kg max carry on for international. it should say on your ticket?
if you can carry on i'd say it's preferable. i've spent A LOT of time on the phone to lost luggage services in my time for djs who've lost their records. even have the direct phone numbers for most major airline's luggage services saved in my mobile - says a lot about the frequency it happens

When did u decide this?? When/Where u goin??
most of them won't weigh it; i know i've taken on well over 15, and usually carry somewhere around 10, since i hate flying with checked luggage.Friday wrote:varies slightly from airline to airline so depends who you're going with... qantas is 7kg max carry on for international. it should say on your ticket?

2 x32 kg bangs or 2 bags that equal 32kg?Lós Kasino— wrote:thank to all for the advice.
International flights allow 2 bags x 32kg
a stuffed full UDG bag came to 18kg.
Question now is would a UDG bag be safe under checked luggage - or would a "flight" case be more sensible ???
Rorz - US of A, mate! NYC.
I've flown intl a few times in the past 12 months and it was 32 total
