I wish it wasn't at The Metro.

have seen 'em twice now and their show at The Palace (supporting J5) was FAR superior to the Metro gig

probably still go though

their latest album (Game Theory) has some awesome tracks on it!

those kind of gigs at Honky's weren't advertised and the word was only spread a couple of days before

I'll be there. Pretty much everyone in my office gets freebies.

Fat Freddys Drop, Roots, Arrested Development, Ozomatli, Paul Kelly, Bo Diddley, Eric Burdon (just to see House of the Rising Sun, Dont Let Me Be Misunderstood and Lowrider), Blue King Brown etc.

Should be aight.

Forum would be better!

Metro ain't the greatest venue for sure, how do they rate in terms of numbers - i guess metro is biggest, then forum, then palace?

At least it ain't festival hall, never been there but heard plenty of horror stories.

forum is way way way more expensive for a promoter though...

palace is actually the biggest of the 3. pretty comparable to metro though. palace 1,880 and metro 1,850 off the top of my head. similar hire fees too so no reason to do one more than the other on that front.

think forum is 1,350 capacity ;)

forum is ace. only issues i have are plastic cups for drinks (i love my glassware) and massive amounts of stairs out the back to the dressing rooms :P

plus from a promoter point the hire fee sucks :P

i worked on a teriyaki gig at the forum many years ago...

we were there a few days doin decor, and met one of the caretakers..

he told us of how the gargoyles on the outside can be traced within to a secret room set up with pentacle in the floor, symbols everywhwere, freemason type majick room.

i want to hire it one time, just to find that room.

kitty - there is a massive basement complex underneath it too. and an underground tunnel that meets up with the basement of parliament! ;)

apparently there are tunnels underneath all of melbourne between heaps of the old buildings.

Heard it was superb, two drummers are always an excellent start, and apparently no DJ.

Didn't hear back about tickets to the afterparty so my night was instead a kick ass time at Croft, then meeting up with a friend who told me everything about the Roots gig.

it sucked compared to the last time i saw them. the venue was as people predicted awful, overcrowded heaps of drunk people who just talked all the way through the gig the sound was pretty crappy and had to hang back coz of the short people in our crew and wound up upstairs behind the glass watching them because at least the sound was reasonable and people weren't barging past you all the time. the roots were lacklustre except for a couple of tracks and ?love was pretty ordinary, last time i saw him he blew me away.

the awesome hip hop medly and the seed were redeeming but without a female vocalist or rahzel or a second mc or cody chestnut they relied on over long instrumental solo's to pad out the show. pretty bummed out really had been looking forward to this for months and the show i saw at the palace a few years ago was the best live hip hop i had ever seen. think they were better given a limited time frame and with more crew on stage.

Ah, I heard Rahzel was on tour with them, that would have made a difference.

The people I spoke to who went were "high on life".

yeah outside at a festival would have been so much better, but they were still pretty ordinary.
