500px wide by 100px high works for a lot of forums. size shouldn't be more than 50k

Our initial agreements were that there were to be NO images in all signatures.

This will be reintroduced again soon.

Nice, get rid of em, there annoying and no need :D

I think this is irrelevant now, but here's my 2c to contribute

:smt034

I look at this forum when im not supposed too, so massive glittery sigs mite help bust me. That is not shizo! or whatever's and whoever's problem, its mine.

But at the end of the day, reality is that I, and a fuck load of other people, do non work stuff throughout the day, and this happens to be one of them.

Im also someone that shares my musical interests with people I work with and the oldies are kinda interested in seeing stuff I do... so i show em pics and they giggle at my name on here, blah blah. Kinda of a way of sharing my out of work life with others, which includes parents etc too.

IMO, this forum is used by a lot of people and we get to have some wicked tooing and frooing with likeminded people, music sharing of the highest quality and a hour by hour guide of wats going on in our favourite town (not that i need to fucking spell that out (). Do we have to shit on it? 'Offensive' is different for all people, personally I find offensive kinda funny, and reading suck my balls doesnt offend me. But it offends others, and I just think that we have to cater for the people that will get offended.

As annoying as that is

I have no problem with small images in signatures.

For example Lynt's click bar and the Kombat bass banners are fine.

same, don't bother me. Option in your profile to turn them off to cater for those that need low bandwidth or inconspicuous browsing perhaps?

I like em too. As along as they arent offensive or massiove or flash really hard or effect laod times hugely.

Makes for a more interesting forum. Its not dialup for most anymore.

i think they can be used as a tool for ones ego, that is the big ones of course. The small web banners don't bother me, as previously stated they add a bit of colour thus its a pleasing aesthetic.

if you get opera web browser, or firefox maybe? there is an easy to access button that turns images off, so you can have text only browsing. Try that BRB

i have no problem with images (e.g. lynt's sig). i have a problem with annoying, obnoxious, or enormous images. for example, the dude with 'suck my balls' in the glittery writing a while back, or that enormous picture of jessica alba (though I find it harder to bring myself to complain about that one ;) just kidding, liz, no really), or four screen poster promo sigs.

if I have to turn images off to sensibly browse mb.c, then something's wrong.

I am thinking about starting a thread and poll about this in main area.

I dont see the point in having a pic in your sig, unless it is promotion, and even then it bugs me.

If you like the pic so much, make it your avatar.

agreed. picking random examples from the most recent threads:
great sig: lynt
good sig: hatsudai
borderline sig (needs to be reduced a bit): atp
horrible sig: cha_chaos (sorry, but wtf?), mr b, quick

seriously, karl's sig should be the benchmark. it's small and non-invasive (with the greys). it even looks good.

i'm glad you like it, but why not put it in ttan? or, even better, a 'animated .gif appreciation thread' could be created along the lines of ttan/bu/gripes/ebay/links, and people who like animated .gifs and really can't do without them in their lives could lurk in that thread, and the rest of us could read without having to see it every other post?

seriously, i'm sure it's great, i just don't want to have to deal with it. the signature is on _everything you post_. if you look at a signature like karl's or hatsudai's, they respect that. yours and cha's ... don't.

quite timely, actually. i just found out by accident today (fired up the windows laptop to do an expense report and thus saw my homepage on the intranet for the first time in a while, and that has your last phone bill on it) that february's bill was €1047, of which about €750 was roaming gprs, presumably mostly in australia. and no-one's so much as mentioned it. :)

I quite like small signatures for promotional purposes. eg. 500x100 + no larger than 50k as someone else suggested. There's plenty of people on here creating stuff worthy of sharing.
