some mixed feelings about this, due to qjump being sold to moshtix.

however, prior to all of that going down, i did a site inspection of the event venue about 3 weeks ago and i can say with conviction that this year's splendour in the grass will eclipse any of the previous events held at belongil fields. the plans, the changes on site, the surrounding landscape - all of this is going to make this an absolutely epic festival. (let alone the COLOSSAL lineup.)

i seriously cannot wait.

i reckon lineup is snore, but then i'm not really the target audience for this kind of gig.

really i should keep my mouth shut, but history has shown us how unlikely that is.

it will sell out literally in seconds - regardless of price.

might not be seconds, but it will sell out that morning. the camping and ticket price factors will also weed out the wankers.

three days of amazing music. not a bad selling point. 4 bands still to be announced too (and at least 2 of them are MEGA.)

Was thinking the same thing. I'm pretty sure they are not concerned with making it a "fair price" when it sells out every time.

I'm more of a side-show person so can't say I care too much.

yeah coz if you can afford a ticket to this there's no way you could possibly be a wanker :teef:

seriously though, it is an interesting point....me and my gf were talking about how different the crowd would be for this as opposed to, well, any other festival in australia, due to how outrageously expensive it is.....she was saying she knows a couple of people who have applied for credit cards and maxed them out just to get to meredith and back, coz they just HAD to go

All relative to what you earn I guess

For most people my age, that's a fuckload of money, particularly if you have to travel from Melbourne

ticket- $450
booze- $100 (probably a modest estimate)
supplies- $100
travel- $100 (modest again)

a multiple day festival will always be expensive. the line up that has been booked is also the majority of the price component of the ticket.

i don't understand why people are complaining so much. this is by far the biggest lineup at any australian festival that i've ever seen. sure, glastonbury and coachella have bigger lineups, but they're: a) in the northern hemisphere (the promoters can save the majority of the artists' transport costs); and b) getting crowds of ~200,000 people (which gives the promoters huge economies of scale which can then be passed on to the punter).

fair point. making punters camp will do much more for the quality of the attending audience.

lol modest indeed!
try at least $300 for flights
$600 for booze and the rest
$300 for food & camping supplies

would easily be a $1500 weekend imo.

FUCK THAT.

I spent about that much at playground weekender - and that was within driving distance of home (3 hours)

i don't think it's that expensive ... $450 ... let's say you blow another $1-1.5k on getting there and food etc ... $1.5-2k ... for 3 days it's pretty good considering the entertainment.

You would pay only $100 for that line up?

That's wishful thinking.

I don't think it's expensive - I think it depends on what value you put on experience.
