Elementz & Tekstep present Klute (Commercial Suicide, UK)
Tom Withers (Klute) has been a musician all his life and a fixture on the Drum and Bass scene for over a decade now. As Tommy Stupid he released his first 7" aged 15 with his legendary skate punk band, The Stupids. They went on to release several more 7" and albums with Children of The Revolution and Vinyl Solution Records, John Peel Sessions, and tour the world with their live show.
After a well-deserved sabbatical and discovering house and techno Klute was born into his drum and bass guise. Initially working for several years with Certificate 18 Records he eventually established Commercial Suicide in 2001, releasing music from himself as well as a range of artists such as Break, SKC, Amit and others.
Klute needs very little introduction in Melbourne after last years massive gig at Miss Libertine and the launch of his successful fifth album The Emperors New Clothes. Currently in a secret mountain retreat, meditating in preparation of his 6th artist album, tentatively titled "For those who disagree shall die by my bare hands", this tour will yet again cement Klute’s reputation as a one of the best drum and bass DJs, producers and record label bosses around.
This gig sees the coming together of two of the Melbourne Drum and Bass scenes most important promoters, Tekstep and Elementz. Between these two promoting behemoths Melbourne has seen more International Drum and Bass acts than you can shake a stick at.
Full Nexo sound system and local support from: Rol’n, Beatski, Jay Trooper, 1LC, Joe Seven and Dust.
Early bird tickets available at Ministry of Style and DMC Records $20, more on the door.[/img]

no offense meant to you guys but the majority of the internationals who have played in the last year have been at miss libs. correct me if i am wrong.TheOperatives wrote:one dnb gig a month? oversaturation?mecka wrote:oh fuckin snap.
Fingers crossed its not at Miss Ls. tbh its become oversaturated much like Brown Alley.
*dons flamesuit*
don't get me wrong - the place is great when used sparingly but i'm just tired of a majority of my favourite artists coming to play at the one venue over and over. and tbh when you are going to a single place once a month the small things that are wrong with it tend to grate more and more every time you go there.
there's not much more on my part to say - i speak strictly from a punters perspective and don't know/don't want to know what happens on the promotional side.
edit: and there's nothing that can be done to change any of this.
that having been said, i'll probably be at this one as well.
I gotta agree with Mecka. I'm not trying to stir up shit or put anyone down, but Miss Libs is just overused and whilst it is a great venue for some gigs, it does not work for many of them. There's a lot of things about that place which, as Mecka said, become grating over time (sound quality, lack of space, etc).
By the same token, I know you can't please everyone all the time, and I don't know what goes on "behind the scenes".

So far I have been out to see 3 d'n'B international gigs this year and I have been to the Hifi once (Andy C), and the Prince two times (Marky & Bukem). so going to see someone at Miss Lib's will actually be a change for me.
Bring on Klute!! He's one of my favs and I've not seen him before!

Just because I rock, doesn't mean I'm made of stone.
Yep. True words!Hardy wrote:Do yourself a favour... the man DESTROYS the place every time!Polecat wrote:

Still have such awesome (if not hazy) memories of seeing him at Prince a few years back. Good times!
Klute is AMAZING. One of my favourites for sure.
Would LOVE to see him drop a techno set. I always look forward to his techno stuff just as much as his DnB. Is there anything the man can't do?dust wrote:Not sure about that one. Will find out for you tho.flippo wrote:?flippo wrote:will he be playing techno too?
Saw him play a techno set in London and it was amazing. The london d'n'b heads hated it tho and most of them left!! Bigger purists than i've ever seen.

Possibly. Depends on the monitors he was using.Johnny Hooves wrote:Mate I reckon you would still grizzle about sound quality if you were sitting next to klute while he was writing his fucking beats!Hardy wrote:There's a lot of things about that place which, as Mecka said, become grating over time (sound quality, lack of space, etc).

hmmmm................bah, it doesn't seem that hard anyways. I watched President Bartlett do it the other night on West Wing. Looked pretty easy. He even did it without the help of Leo. Although CJ lent a hand, as did Toby and Josh.Hardy wrote:Don't rule it out yet....mrj wrote:hammer out a peace deal for gaza?Hardy wrote: Would LOVE to see him drop a techno set.
