Sweet, that will be mad. Theres some wikkid books on hardcore and metal at Polyestor, just can't afford them and my smack habit. If my ex- hasn't reclaimed the Jisoe DVD I'll let you have a squizz of that.Grey Son wrote:Ill give ya that book " the history of grindcore and death metal " mate, has heaps about earache!!!factory worker wrote:Scum is the shiznet. theres been some great aussie grind bands. some of my faves have been captain cleanoff, open wound, the kill, hailstones kill 200, aids.Grey Son wrote:Haaaaa long live grinders!!!Terry Tate wrote:yes indeed pig destroyer are one of the greatest grind bands ever!Grey Son wrote:Hey Flippo, if ya into the whole " wall of sound, errr sound "
Then check out Pig Destroyer! Im a biased as i love em but Scott Hull the guitarist/producer is amazing! The band is only a 3 piece Drums, Vocalist and Guitar. They are amazing and there 2nd disk on there last album is a 50 min track in full soround sound, creepy!!
some days i tend to favour hulls other band agoraphobic nosebleed more though. pure brutality.
i used to sing for a grind band gs, pm me your addy and ill send you a copy of our cd n some other stuff from perth you might like. we had our own lil grind scene happening for a few years n it was great!
top 5 grind bands
1. agoraphobic nosebleed
2. pig destroyer
3. discordance axis
4. the locust
5. as the sun sets/daughters
Yeah AN are great too, more blasting than Pig Destroyer...
I have always wanted a grind band and have plans to do so one day!!
Good list there my friend, i like Nasum, The Kill ( Good to see the aussies reppin ) Clit Eater and a few others but not many come close to anything Scott Hull puts his hand to. There is alot of shit grind out there as well!
And you cant go past the mighty NAPLAM DEATH thats for sure!!
PM on its way mate!!!
scott hull can do no wrong. any band hes involved with are just amazing.
same goes for dave witie. every band hes drummed for have been mind blowing. the fact he plays drums for AN live says it all.
dyou like dbeat as well? stuff like tragedy, his hero is gone, 324, world burns to death, on a local tip schifosi and abc weapons?
New Hampshire's alright if you like fighting.

Have been listening to lots of Between the Buried and Me lately...
Very nice technical death metal with splashes of melodic vocals, acoustic bits in random places... check it if you like Dillinger Escape Plan sort of thing.

I reckon there will be a reformation tour in the next 2 years with the original line up minus Steven Adler and possibly without Izzy Stradlin. But I'm sure Axl will see the value in reuniting with Slash and Duff to make way more cash than peddling the name with hired guns for band members. (pun intended)

I know this date has been set in stone before only to be pulled again and again, but I'm more hopefull than I've been for years.
I'm Big Kev, in fact.
Also agreed on the original three line-up, likely with Sorum on drums.

Re: The unofficial HEAVY METAL Thread
I'm not a real big metal fan. Used to live with 3 metal heads who were in a band "Terrorust". Tortured my ears with some freakin heavy shit but every now and then they'd throw devin on and i loved it! I'm gonna have to buy a few albums. He's a pretty talented dude. Infinity is an awesome album. Be buying that one soon.flippo wrote:Devin Townsend is working on a new album and I'm baring up again

Re: The unofficial HEAVY METAL Thread
yes he is probably my favorite ever musician. Took me a while to get past the cheesyness of some of it, particularly his vocals styles, but it's where he has come from and also alot of it is quite tongue-in-cheek. I sat on Ocean Machine not really liking it for that very reason for about 12 months back in 1998, one day I forced myself through it, and it's probably in my equal top 5 albums of all time now.
Infinity is certainly an amazing work, more interesting than ocean machine straight up but not as an acomplished album (probably because it was rushed through in two parts either side of a mental hospital visit! so it's kinda awkward) Ocean machine froms tart to finish is just...... aarrgh... perfect.
Physcist was pretty sick too.
Terria, Acelerated and Synchestra didn't hit as high for me as the others, although definatley were solid, just didn't quite get there as whole albums. Some amazing tracks though.
Have not listened to the new ambient one Hummer, or Ziltiod which is meant to be a bit of a joke but gets rave reviews. Really need to get my hands on those two.
I've got a good feeling about this new one though heh!
I'm tipping the Strapping Young Lad stuff is too heavy for you?

Yeah most of it. Although i must say i liked it more than most metal. Dev's influence makes the difference for me. Ocean machine was mad! Glad you brought that up. I forgot the name of that one.flippo wrote:yes he is probably my favorite ever musician. Wow! It has an old skool 80's hardcore punk vibe - especially the bass break down the first guitar solo.Hardy wrote:NEW SLAYER SONG!!!!

Still, it's very good rock music and shits all over most contemporary "saviours of rock n roll" bullshit.
This is just the first song.

Re: The unofficial HEAVY METAL Thread
I wouldn't say they were crap - theirs sound was terrible though - too loud, and no definition at all. Slipknot were amazingly awesome performers - definitely got my moneys worth there...David Bass wrote:machine head was crap.

Re: The unofficial HEAVY METAL Thread

My latest trip down metal memory lane.

Everyone seems so jaded about new G'n'R. I think it was preety good offering from and ego-maniac. Each to their own.
