Yeah played it for a few mins in the morning. On some American host so I didn't say long...Stray wrote:I got the COD 4 beta last night. Is pretty cool.. although I only played it for a short period as it was late.
Will give it a better go tonight.
But so far I like a lot.
I was OK. Graphics were about a billion times worse than the trailers though. Will have to give it more time.

4.8Gbits/ps would put IEEE 1394b to shame...
Still I don't know why people just don't develop a standard interface using 8 pin twisted - that shit is already at 10Gbit/ps and has potential to go much faster.

maybe for the home market. but there are lot more applications for this stuff than that.system wrote:firewire should have been the standard interface. besides, even sata drives generally only have a maximum burst rate of 150mb/s.
maybe when solid state hdds are with us, this stuff will make more sense.

.25 usd per end user. but thats not why it hasnt taken off as it should have. hardware just costs more.huge wrote:isnt there a charge from apple if you want to have onboard firewire?
its a pretty slow interface these days considering sata is @ 3Gbit/ps now and will soon be faster...
but yeah as system said, there isnt much in the home market where you can make use of it

redundancy over a single link... has impact where weight is an issue. satellites, robotics, aviation, cars, etc etcsystem wrote:i guess so.saintberry wrote:maybe for the home market. but there are lot more applications for this stuff than that.system wrote:firewire should have been the standard interface. besides, even sata drives generally only have a maximum burst rate of 150mb/s.

the owner of teener.com/firewire/ wrote:The fees are paid to the 1394 Licensing Authority, which then distributes shares of the fees to the various patent holders (which include Apple, Sony, Canon, ST Microelectronics, Matsushita, etc, etc).

it's running linux, and i'm only using it because i don't have any other machines with that particular graphics chipset, so settle down.

Ever since I loaded Firefox, I have trouble with emoticons. Let's say I wanna put on in on the top line after I've written a few lines, it always pops in at the bottom and I have to cut and paste it where I had clicked. Anyone else get this? It's not a big deal, but if there's a way to make it go where I want it the first time that'd be cool.
