SPRING BREAKS TROPHY BATTLE @ FRACTURED
ROCK LIKE THIS vs DIS YOU

In the spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of, BREAKS!

On October 6th, reigning Fractured Breaks Trophy crew Rock Like This (Deviant, Guyno and Nago) will be defending their title against the formidable Dis You outfit (Brewster, Alias and Troopz). Shikung will be refereeing this clash of the breaks titans at Fractured, and one of the cityâ€™s best sound systems will be properly worked out by some of the best breaks DJs in the country.
About 14 months ago, the Rock Like This crew started up a little night called Stylus on the second Saturday of every month at Bunker Lounge. Still doing that night, they have taken to raiding runs, winning breaks trophies and the like.
Guyno has been DJing since before some of you were born, wielding all that experience like a diamond-tipped stylus. Deviant has the fresh tip, having played at Fractured since 2004, and Nago has been throwing breaks parties like Italians throw rice. One thing they all share though, is a love for deep, dirty, nasty breaks.
â€œAnd don't you forget it!â€ says Deviant. â€œFor sure, we like all types of music, but I say we definitely specialise in the deep, dirty and techy breakbeat stuff. We've done this before, (did I mention we are the reigning champs?) and it was hella fun... It was one of the best fun parties I've had at Fractured. I had my first ever DJing gig there back at Platform 1. The events and the crowd attending just keep getting better and better.
â€œI've been playing heaps of different stuff lately. Still packed from my last gig I have some house, minimal, electro, and breaks. Iâ€™m buying a bit of everything lately. I like to wave my arms around, wave records around, have a boogie, you know?â€
Brewster is like one of those lighthouses in hurricane surf, quietly stolid, dependable and dope. Alias blends so many styles, heâ€™s like a microwave cookbook, and Troopzâ€™ classical musical educations probably has nothing to to do with his working for London label Boombox Records. Together, their sound is ephemeral, hard to lock downâ€¦hard to defend against too.
â€œI'm afraid I'm not at liberty to disclose our tactics. Besides, I think it's more like we are going to bring more of our mates to vote for us,â€ laughs Deviant maniacally. â€œApart from the obvious venue changes, Fractured has grown into a night that promises a greater diversity of music than ever before. This was an awesome night last time and much fun was had by all, no doubt the second one will be even better.

So below are the new rules, they are basically the same as last time with a few adjustments

can anyone suggest some more minor technicalities to include for the sake of a good night??

TROPHY BATTLE RULES
In regards to voting procedures and conduct.

VOTING
Voting slips are available on the door or are available from Fractured or from either of the competing Crews from the night.

- 1 Vote per Payer
To help check this we have asked for name and email details for verification of Voters we are also organizing giveaways
on the night to one lucky voter to prove we are nice.

- Voting closes at 4:30am sharp!
Any votes received after the deadline can be declared invalid by the Referee. Voting is to be based on quality of the DJâ€™s mixing ability, tune selection, enthusiasm and crowd support.

- The Refereeâ€™s decision is final and all objections will be mocked
then ignored. Constant objections will result in public humiliation.

Team Players have to behave in a manner suitable for this occasion. Instant disqualification will result from;
-Physical Violence, especially toward the Referee
-Explicit Verbal Abuse, especially toward the Referee
-Bitterness
-Thievery
-Public Nudity (unless pre-notified as part of act)
-Undue Sobriety

The winning team receives.
- 1 Special Prize per DJ
- 1 Bottle of Champagne
- Their name engraved on the Trophy
- Possession of the Trophy for 2 weeks (to show mum)
- The right to defend the Trophy in summer against new challengers
- GLORY and PRESTIGE
