Yeah there isn't anything on... That's why I'm starting Kulture so that it's easier to track parties and see what is coming up and all that kinda thing as the MB 'Whats on' page doesn't seem to work. Would be nice if that page worked either that or a special section for gigs. But thats bout the only thing that shits me really about MB. Thngs could always be better but ppl would still find something to bitch n winge and whine about.
That's so plausible I can't believe it!

Yeah it's my own web site. I started it from scratch pretty much. It uses WordPress. I am currently having a event calendar custom coded for it so that I can have an events calendar on the site with a calendar and list of parties that are coming up. There wil also be a whole heap of other cool stuff on it too. I'm always working on i and trying to improve it n make it better.

I'm sorry but I can't believe some of the stuff in this thread

This site is run and provided by Lucas, Karl and Nik out of their own time and money.

All should be thankful that this site even exists.

I think the naysayers should back off and show some respect.

Its free, lets not discuss it in case someone frowns.

haha, I agree!

yeah this site will NOT cure cancer, CAN'T turn water into wine, NOR will it guide you through the four stages of enlightenment.

It is however the best place to check stuff wots going on, pick up a few mixes, buy and sell music and dj gear and get some ideas on what choons to buy! Which is kinda what it is intended for right??

There's like 25 people on here, who are die-hard posters, arse suckers, gig whores, free drink/guestlist pilferers, and finally music lovers, and good dudes.
The rest come on every now and then.
Melb Beats is a very small part of any promotion I do for any gig.
And having close to 1000 people at the last gig I co-orgasized at the POW is a testament to that. Promotion on here was minimal.
I use it more as a communication tool rather than a full-on promotional vechile. I have many more effective ways of getting the message accross.

It's a great thread though, and the mods have laid off a bit lately, which I think is great.
It can be a bit 'clicky' tho, and as pre-mentioned, if your not 'in' with the MB crowd, your thread go's to page 2 pretty fast.
Most forums are like that though.

Anyway, I think it's a great tool for communication, and I personally have lots of fun on it, but as a promotional vechile (as with any thread) it would probably accounnt for 3% of the people (at the very most) at any major, or semi-major gig - tops.

I think Lynt and Lucas have done a great job though, and it has definately dropped the hit-rate on commercial sites like ITM down substantially.
It's done for all the right reasons, and props to them. 8)

Forums are like going to a new class at school - there's the bullie, the sucks, the fake-asses, the fashion victims, the nice guys, the quiet achievers, the bad-apples, the people who become friends for the rest of your life.
Just take it all with a grain of salt.
I like MB. 8)

I'm not judging anyone.
I'm just saying it how it is.
Giving pretty good props to Karl and Lucas actually - I love MB.

To answer your question...
I'm outspoken, and sometimes over-passionate, and have a fiery temper at times.
I get what needs to to be done - done, and I don't let anyone stand in my way. I take shit from no man.
I'm definately not a gig whore, and not a suck either.
Do you think you could vouch the same? But you just play CDJ's and do the odd bit of chin stroking yeah? Maybe you'll play a gig one day?
Hey, maybe then we could talk on even terms? I'm about 700 up on you though - you have a bit of work to do.
If you want to question my integrity dude, expect to be questioned back thoroughly.
I'm for the music, pure and simple, I couldn't give a rats what a group of fifteen dudes think of me on an internet forum.
I'm obvioulsly doing something right.
I've got gigs coming out my arse-hole, and a whole crew of dudes who love and respect me, because they know when it comes down to the bottom line, I'm on the level - and I just say it how it is.
If I don't like what you say, I'm as comfortable telling it to your face, as I am on a forum - ask anyone.
You asked. 8)

Does this answer your question? :?:

Yep, I think you anwsered my question perfectly mate.

By the way, just because i don't play gigs, or promote does not mean I love the music any less. It is not a competition about who is more hard core in the scene. I go out and support the music i love on a weekly basis and have done for 10 years.
I was not having a go at you or integrity or what you do, I was simply saying that i thought you were being a little harse on people who are just doing their thing, and look at your response!

Yeah, well maybe I take it to heart that a dude like you DOES question my integrity, in a subtle way, and that you'd take offence that I'd actaually be straight up, and name the different types of people on the forums - while giving LOTS of props too.
Like any walk of life there's good and bad.
If the truth hurts so much, maybe I should just lie all the time to keep dudes like yourself happy?
But, sorry, that aint me.
I tell it like it is.
That's the way it will always be.
Your question pissed me off - what other type of response did you expect to get?

agree on the cliquey-ness of this place. its a good and a bad thing:

Its nice to be able to come in here and chat to people that you have gotten to know, and even made friends with. Also, to see them out and see lots of friendly faces.

Bad thing would be that others on here who aren't in the cliques feel left out, this goes for people when out i.e if you aren't entirely part of the "MB scene" or just new to you it, its quite daunting and again you can feel left out. Everyone will tend to stick to their own.

bad thing is it becomes an extended group msn session. i don't feel left out, i'm just disinterested in most of the banter among friends. so are most of my friends which is why they don't post, or read. its nice to read local music forum with young people's opinions and info about music i like tho, & i'm often partial to distraction while studying. don't think you should worry about people feeling left out, its just some people don't want to be 'part' of anything.

i like to worry, and i hate people being ganged up on (esepcially newbies on here), plus on some occasions its been close to home i.e. bringing someone out who isn't in the scene and no one talks to them except those that don't care about the scene or whatever. but thanks for your opinions Jude :smt023
