Play Some Fucken Metal - white boy

Post by factory worker »

Flip Your Wig has outed a number of closet head bangers over the past few months.

I'm interested in hear from DJ's who would be interested in mashing up some metal, industrial, hard core, punk, harcore, indie guitar stuff with beats like hip hop or drum'n'bass.

And from those that aren't interested in playing wikkid tunes and getting pissed, maybe some input or thoughts about which guitar based tunes you rate?

Best metal song/ track ever?
Most Innovative Guitar band?
Ground breaking/ genre defining album?
Favourite current/ contemporarymetal anthem?
Life time achievement fro services to heavy metal?

how many of you lost interest in Sepultura when Max left and Derek Green stepped in? Personally I fucking loved it, it was the direction I always wanted sep to go in. Much more musical and contemporary, like you knew Adrias had it in him but Max's influence always meant it went into more of a straight up heavy killer riff direction. Against is one of the albums I always go back to every now and then. Soulfly was wicked fun when I was 17 but.

word, Devin is one of my musical heroes. I would say my favorite artist from any genre actually, if I had to pick one.

I tuned out after Roots, mainly because I started listening to other styles of music. I listened to the new Soulfly album not long ago, and it was dull and generic, sounded... exactly like sepultura did ten years ago.

Still, the man has done great things for metal, and continues to push the sound, so respect.

Nice work Flippo, Terry Tate, Hardy and Paul B.
I knew that there was still a lot of respect for the masters of shredding and other metal terrorists. Word to Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valanetine.
I'd chuck Shellac up there with them personally.

So who's up for playing some of this wikkidness in a club. Terry you seemed keen, are you local to Melbourne?

Slayer
Iron Maiden
Anthrax
Helmet
Pantera

I suppose gigs like these would be reliant on mostly CD's as I don't happen to see many metal singles around on vinyl. Maybe im just not looking in the right place....

There is a nigght called 'Hell'...and the pretty much have a goth-esqu crowd...but they play lotsa proper indestrial...both tech and metal. EBM thype music with likes of Nitzer Ebb and all that.
