Yes, that’s right, you read correctly – The Breakfastaz are back!
After last years phenomenal performance, that goes into the record books as one of Melbourne’s most anticipated, and over the top DJ sets EVER by an international breakbeat act, the guys are visiting our shores once more on Friday the 24th of March for a night of broken-beat mayhem, and for a once off show @ Brown Alley.
Really needing no introduction to those of you up with your breaks, the Breakfastaz have basically dominated the hard breaks scene over the last two years, with prolific mass-selling releases on pretty much every label worth note in their area of expertise – Cyberfunk, Passenger, and Mob – just to name a few.
With support and repeat record canings from scene stalwarts such as Plump DJs, The Freestylers, Tayo, Ali B, Meat Katie, Aquasky, Krafty Kuts and Deekline, the enormous impact they’ve had on the scene in such a short period of time can easily be seen.
To back up their releases, the guys have been DJ'ing everywhere from London to Spain to the United States and have also done guest shows and interviews on BBC Radio 1 (Annie Nightingale), Xfm (Eddie Temple-Morris) and Kiss 100 (Tayo), accompanying their weekly shows on Pyrotechnic Radio, and also on Breaks FM.
Their hard work has now been well recognized, with the guys being featured on the front cover of IDJ’s ‘Players Of The Year 2004’ December, and last year winning Best Breakthrough Act at the Breakspoll World Breakbeat Awards 2005, as well as being nominated for the Best Producer award too.
Putting on a performance at Gimme a Break last year that defied all bounds of madness, yet was still up there with anything quality-wise that has ever come to Melbourne, there is no doubt that the Breakfastaz have staked their claim as one of the worlds finest breaks acts, with many more astounding performances across the globe, and again gaining recent nominations to be one of the last 5 contenders in this years ‘Best DJ’ section of the Breakspoll awards.
Once again the Gimme crew is proud to welcome them back a year later, and are amped to be playing along side them once again for a no holds barred display of up to date Breakology of the highest order.
With another quality international also planned for April too, the Gimme crew knows where it’s at, and will be bringing home the goods through the course of the year at several different venues of rockin repute.
So even if you haven’t been to a Gimme a Break party before, you’d be mad to miss this one. And if you don’t even listen to breaks, we bet we can swing ya!
